He graduated from the Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. He has worked in the energy sector for more than 35 years. First he started working for the power utility (now ČEZ, a.s.) where he worked at the position of the Head of Twin Units and later as the Chief Engineer at a nuclear power station until 1985. In 1986 he joined Škoda Praha where he worked as the Shift Charge Engineer during the plant commissioning and later as the head of the commissioning team. He worked at ČEZ, a. s. again from 2014 to 2016, at that time he was a Member of the Supervisory Board. During his professional career he was mainly involved in consultancy business working both in private and public sectors, for example he was an advisor to the ministers at the Ministry of the Environment and at the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
